HelloAI glossary

Anchoring

When an early piece of information, such as an AI's suggested diagnosis, pulls your thinking toward it and makes you less likely to consider alternatives.

In the clinic

An AI interpretation is printed across the top of every ECG, and tonight's tracing says sinus rhythm with nonspecific ST changes. The emergency physician reads the leads with that sentence already in mind, and the subtle ST elevation in I and aVL, with reciprocal depression in III and aVF, gets filed as nonspecific instead of recognized as a high lateral infarction. Where the system allows it, show the interpretation only after the reader has recorded their own, and in reviews of missed infarcts, note what the printed line said.
